Workplace Charging at Archival Methods

On Thursday, August 16th, ROC EV hosted a special workplace Ride and Drive six months in the making. Archival Methods, which sells physical and digital archival and storage products, was the lucky raffle winner of a Level 2 charging station donated by EV Charge Solutions at ROC EV’s Passport to Workplace Charging event in March 2018.

Dennis Inch, President of Archival Methods, attended that event to learn more about how his business could help advance EV adoption. He was very interested in the fact that workplace charging can help attract and retain talent looking for cutting-edge employers and raise awareness of a company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, employees with access to workplace charging are six times more likely to purchase an EV!

As an electric vehicle (EV) driver, Dennis was excited to bring charging to work for his employees. Archival Methods was already in the process of moving from Henrietta to a larger office in Rochester, so ROC EV and EV Charge Solutions worked with them to determine a location for the charging station at the new facility. For a cost-effective installation, Dennis and Mike Moser, president of EV Charge Solutions, put in two, single-port charging stations attached to the building, which are available to employees, other building tenants and guests.

Archival Methods, ROC EV, and EV Charge Solutions celebrated the commissioning of the charging stations with an afternoon of events. A Lunch and Learn presentation on EV options and why to drive electric (which includes the New York State Drive Clean Rebate of up to $2,000 off an EV in addition to the Federal Tax Credit up to $7,500) was followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting and EV test drives!

ROC EV is a community program to promote EV adoption in the Greater Rochester area with support from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority as part of the State’s Charge NY Initiative. ROC EV’s partners for this event, BMW, Hoselton Auto Mall, and Bob Johnson Chevrolet, provided test drive vehicles so employees could experience the thrill of driving electric for themselves. Special thanks to Mike Moser, president of EV Charge Solutions, for his generous donation, and to Dennis and the team at Archival Methods. Together, we are creating a more EV-accessible community!
